Tuscany (2021, 75x100)

In the olive grove below my parents’ house in Tuscany, wild boars are often seen passing by, sometimes alone or in packs of more than 30.

I have many memories associated with these animals: the fear of encountering them on foot on the road or in the woods, the swollen and putrescent body of a dead wild boar on a clearing, fled from its predators (humans), a huge boar running through the olive grove pursued by dogs and hunters.

I remember the earth shaking under its hooves, the boar was running for its life and I don’t know if it made it.

This boar, alive and yellow under the golden Tuscan summer sun, is a gift for my parents.
